Our day began with high spirits and some beautiful weather in Arlington Heights (although waking up at 4:00 AM was a bit early for me). We packed the last few things into the Jeep, said goodbye to our family, and then we were ready for adventure! The goal for today was to make it to Rapid City, South Dakota- we almost made it! On our way going through Wisconsin we encountered a giant rainstorm. We almost couldn't see through the windshield, and later we heard that 5 inches fell in one hour! Afterward we crossed into Minnesota and then South Dakota. We decided to see the Badlands during sunrise so we stopped overnight at the Rodeway Inn in Kadoka, South Dakota- eighty miles from Rapid City. Tomorrow we are off to see all that South Dakota has to offer and then Yellowstone is next!
