Last day in Oregon today. We spent the morning at Crater Lake to see it in daylight. The deep blue of the water (because it is the deepest lake in the USA) was much more apparent than at night. Because the lake is completely surrounded by crater walls, the water is absolutely still- reflecting the surrounding landscape like a mirror. Leaving Crater Lake, we stopped at the Rogue River for a short detour, and saw some huge rapids close up. Before moving on to California, we had to see the Oregon Caves National Monument. It was a great experience, both for the views and the fact that we escaped the 101 degree heat to be in the wonderful 44 degree bliss of the cave. Tonight, we are in Crescent City, California and the fog is starting to roll in from the ocean. Can't wait to see the redwoods tomorrow!
